Duncan of Jordanstone and College of Art and Design was established as part of the Dundee Institute of Art and Technology in 1892 and became an autonomous institution in 1975 before merging with the University of Dundee in 1996. It is regarded as one of the top Colleges of Art and Design in Britain. There are approximately 1000 undergraduate, taught Masters and research postgraduate students. As part of a modern University, students and staff at DJCAD can take advantage of all that a large educational institution has to offer, whilst retaining the special ethos of a Scottish College of Art.

Location and Getting there
The University of Dundee is located in the historic city of Dundee in the North East of Scotland. Dundee is easy to get to by road and is served by an excellent public transport network.
The presence of internationally acclaimed and award winning artists and designers among the staff ensures that research is cutting edge. Research staff in DJCAD continue to develop and expand on individual research concerns as well as engaging with multi and interdisciplinary collaborative projects that have resulted in national and international recognition for their respective outcomes.
Staff are selected for prestigious exhibitions around the world at renowned venues such as the Tate Liverpool, Tate Britain, National Museum of Photography Film and Television, Bradford, Imperial War Museum, Venice Biennale, Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art, MOMA New York.
