Eastern is a co-educational, comprehensive Christian university that integrates faith, reason and justice for its 3,700 students in undergraduate, graduate, Seminary and accelerated adult programs. Eastern was named to the Templeton Honor Roll of Character-building Colleges and the Honor Roll of Exemplary First-year Programs. An interdenominational Christian student body. Affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA.

Founded in 1925 as Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. The collegiate division began in 1932 and was chartered as a four-year college in 1952. It became Eastern College in 1972 and then Eastern University in 2001. The Seminary of the University was renamed Palmer Theological Seminary in 2005.

Location and Getting there

St. Davids, PA: A scenic 92-acre suburban campus just west of Philadelphia, PA,
with three lakes, wooded walking trails and protected wetlands. Easy access to Philadelphia; New York City; Baltimore, MD; and Washington, D.C.

Information For  Undergraduates

Welcome to the Eastern University College of Arts and Sciences web page! My name is Betsy Morgan. After forty years of college teaching, thirty of them at Eastern, I have agreed to be the Acting Dean of the college. I suppose you could say that this is my last lap before retirement, but I hope it will be a productive lap. I love this faculty and enjoy working with them in all ways.

The College of Arts and Sciences embodies Eastern’s commitment to the liberal arts tradition and is focused on undergraduate studies for full or part-time students at the St. David’s campus. Rooted in the word liberal is the latin word liber which means free. Traditional wisdom tells us that the liberal arts’ emphasis on reason and judgment rather than professional skills is a liberating foundation that serves all our students, whatever career they might choose. Furthermore, we anchor the liberal arts in the Christian faith and seek to prepare our students for thoughtful and transformative service.
