History of Felician College

Felician College, a coeducational liberal arts college, is a Catholic, private, independent institution for students representing diverse religious, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. The College operates on two campuses in Lodi and Rutherford, New Jersey. The College is one of the institutions of higher learning conducted by the Felician Sisters in the United States. Founded by the Felician Sisters of Lodi, New Jersey, it began as Immaculate Conception Normal School with the first summer session commencing on July 5, 1923. For more than a decade, the Normal School trained in-service teachers and qualified them for state certification. On May 27, 1935, the Normal School was raised to the status of a teacher training college approved by and affiliated with the Catholic University of America. The students who belonged to a religious order completed a maximum of seventy-two semester hours of their undergraduate work at the College and then transferred to the Catholic University of America, Seton Hall or Fordham Universities. Our Aims

Felician is an independent co-educational Catholic/Franciscan College founded and sponsored by the Felician Sisters to educate a diverse population of students within the framework of a liberal arts tradition. Its mission is to provide a full complement of learning experiences, reinforced with strong academic and student development programs designed to bring students to their highest potential and prepare them to meet the challenges of the new century with informed minds and understanding hearts. The enduring purpose of Felician College is to promote a love for learning, a desire for God, self knowledge, service to others, and respect for all creation.

Department and information about the department

The Division of Arts and Sciences offers students four educational options:

Master of Arts in Religious Education (online).
The Bachelor of Arts degree in Art, Biology, Communications, Computer Information Systems, English, History, Humanities, Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Philosophy, Psychology, Religious Studies, and the Social Sciences. Concentrations are available in Criminal Justice, Fine Arts, General Science, Graphic Design, International Education and Foreign Language, Mathematical Sciences, New Media, Political Science, and Sociology.
The two-year Associate degree in Liberal Arts with concentrations in any of the areas listed above.
Certificate program in Religious Studies and Graphic Art.  

Information For  Undergraduates

Applications for undergraduate admission to Felician College are considered for Fall or Spring admission. Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis. This means that once an application to the College has been filed and all necessary credentials have been received, the applicant is notified by letter of an admission decision, usually within two to three weeks.

Applications for admission to Adult & Graduate programs are reviewed on a rolling basis, year-round. Decisions are made immediately after the Office of Adult & Graduate Admission receives all required credentials. Please contact us to inquire about the upcoming start dates for each program.
