Location and Getting there

Three locations offer Grand View students convenient scheduling options for their program of study. Weekend and evening classes are offered at the main campus in Des Moines, at the downtown Des Moines Pappajohn Center for Higher Education, and at Grand View's Camp Dodge Campus in Johnston, Iowa.

Grand View is located in Des Moines, a metropolitan area of nearly half a million people in central Iowa. Des Moines is the state capital and serves as the communications hub for Iowa. Nationally recognized organizations that have their corporate offices in Des Moines include Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.; the Principal Financial Group; Meredith Corporation; and the Des Moines Register.

Grand View College's campus is Des Moines—and as part of the Grand View community, students are not limited by the confines of a small college or small town. In a given day, students can catch an Iowa Cubs professional baseball doubleheader, head down to the Court Avenue district for great food and nightlife, or take in a concert at the Civic Center.

Department and information about the department

Grand View’s Art Department offers students a first-class art education. Our students have visions of what they want from their education, and at Grand View we match those visions with one of the best art departments in the state.

Our department has a mission to teach and a goal to see all our students reach their potential. Hundreds of our art graduates attest to the determination and dedication of a faculty whose greatest success is the success of our students.

Academic Staff and Description

No graduate students teach you at Grand View College. In an age when many colleges and universities rely on teaching assistants, the Art Department faculty at Grand View consists of four full-time and four adjunct professors. Another unique aspect of our faculty is that they all are working artists, with insights into the making of art and the development of student artists.
