Hereford College Of Arts

Hereford College of Arts was first established in the centre of the city in the 1850s as a small art school meeting local needs. It has continued to grow and diversify, opening its doors to a wide range of students both locally, regionally and internationally. Initially well known for its work of exceptional quality in the crafts the college has always excelled in a full range of art and design: illustration, graphic design, fine art and photography, more recently joined at undergraduate level by digital media (graphic & media design, film & animation) and performing arts (drama, dance and music).

The College is now the only specialist art and design college in the heart of England and Welsh Borders. While most such specialist institutions have lost their identity by merging with larger colleges and universities, Hereford has survived and prospered. Location and Getting there

Department and information about the department

The College offers art, design, media arts and performing arts from entry level through to undergraduate courses. This creates a unique environment where students as young as 16 can study alongside undergraduates, practitioners and artists in residence.

    The Colleges offers 3 year, full-time BA (Hons), 2 year, full-time, foundation degrees and a number of BA (Hons), one year top-ups.

    We currently do not offer a postgraduate programme at the College - however, the College has strong links with The University of Wales and The University of Gloucestershire, which both have extensive postgraduate provision in the arts.
