Our Aims

The Faculty├»┬┐┬Żs industry connections mean we can provide you with many unique opportunities, for example, by helping you get your work seen by eminent people in your profession, running ├»┬┐┬Żlive├»┬┐┬Ż projects and arranging placements within prestigious companies or institutions. In addition, you will be able to take part in site visits, carry out project work with visiting lecturers and attend workshops and talks with industry specialists. Our reputation also ensures that industry leaders regularly visit our student shows to see the best of the new talent before anybody else.


Location and Getting there

Getting to Kingston University is easy wherever you live. Situated just off the M25, serviced by both Kingston and Surbiton train stations and on many bus routes, Kingston is easily accessible whichever mode of transport you choose. Heathrow and Gatwick airports are just a short distance away too. Kingston is a beautiful place to study. Situated by the river Thames, steeped in history, a shopper├»┬┐┬Żs paradise and with plenty of top-quality wine bars and restaurants to relax in after a hard study session, Kingston offers the wide open space of the countryside combined with the ample amenities of a major town. And with England├»┬┐┬Żs capital city centre only 25 minutes away by train, you don├»┬┐┬Żt have far to travel to access its thriving arts scene and cultural resources.

Fine Art at Kingston reflects exciting, new convergent practices and encourages dialogue between traditional and emerging genres. Priority is given to individual artistic practice; the making of works; and the understanding of this within the context of contemporary art. Committed and enthusiastic teaching staff, innovative courses and excellent student support ensure that you will receive a high quality educational experience. Courses are taught by specialists whose collective experience offers a broad teaching platform and a range of practical and conceptual inputs.  

Academic Staff and Description

Many of our committed and enthusiastic staff are active in professional practice as well as being leading academics. A large proportion of our staff is also actively engaged in research and has published widely in specialist areas, sharing their in-depth knowledge through teaching.

Information For  International Students

Kingston University welcomes students from all over the world. We offer a comprehensive range of support services specifically for international students, designed to ensure that you feel at home in our vibrant, multicultural community. On your arrival we will help you adapt to your new life in the UK by meeting you from the airport, showing you around the University and the local area, and introducing you to staff and other international students. We also have International Student Welfare Advisors on hand to help you with any issues you might have. If your first language is not English, you will need to demonstrate a good standard of written and spoken English as an entry requirement onto our postgraduate courses (see each course entry for more details). However, before the start of the academic year, we offer a pre-sessional English course to help you develop the language skills you will need. Once you start your postgraduate studies, you can use the University├»┬┐┬Żs free English Language Support Programme to improve your English skills further.
