Our Aims

All of the courses studied at the school aim:
- to deliver a diverse range of challenging visual arts programmes which promote drawing and observation as fundamentals, and encourage innovative art and design skills.
- to develop individual potential, within a framework of choice, while maintaining a coherent and focused learning experience.

- to equip students with transferable skills and safe working practices, stimulating creative problem solving through appropriate media, while fostering self-reliance, self-motivation and a positive attitude towards life-long learning.

- to facilitate contacts with industrial and cultural organisations, which will support curriculum development and good professional practice, contribute to the regeneration of Merseyside, and the cultural economy of the UK. to maintain a learning environment in which research in all its forms is encouraged and used to inform the curriculum and enrich learning.

If you like designing you should consider architecture.
If you are interested in making our cities and buildings function well and look well, and how they are built, you will enjoy studying architecture.
You might be interested in how architecture can improve the way we live at home, at work or when we do any of the things which needs a building to happen.  Your interest may extend to care for the environment, to the way we use natural resources in the process of buildings, or limit waste produced by buildings and cities.
You might like to be involved in the planning and building process together with many other professionals, business and trades people.
And you might be interested in art and how architecture can create beautiful rooms, buildings, squares and streets.

The School welcomes visits from prospective students at the following times:

Open Days will be held on Thursday 8th February, Thursday 15th March and Thursday 26th April at 2.00pm in Studio 3.01. Please call 0151 231 5084/3704 to book a place.

At present there is an informal Open Day policy – please call 0151-231-5146 to arrange a time.
