Tyler offers the opportunity to study the visual arts within small learning communities while also providing the advantages of a large comprehensive research institution. Tyler students work with dedicated teachers, accomplished artists, and highly respected scholars.

Tyler's location in the Northeast corridor makes the cultural centers of New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. easily accessible.

Tyler students have the opportunity to pursue studies in a rich and diverse curriculum comprised of advanced technologies, contemporary art practice, theory and criticism, and traditional crafts. With programs taught by distinguished faculty in Architecture, Art and Art Education, Art History, Crafts (Ceramic and Glass, Fibers, and Jewelry, Metals/CAD-CAM), Foundation Studies, Graphic Arts and Design (Graphic Design, Photography, and Printmaking), Painting, Drawing, and Sculpture, our students can explore a personal vision through virtually any medium.

Student Life

Temple University offers a wide variety of student life activities, programs, and events. Students are welcome and encouraged to participate in the annual Homecoming Festivities, Spring Fling, and seasonal sporting events, as well as diverse weekly entertainment hosted by various student groups and organizations. The newly renovated Student Assistance Center houses the Office of Student Life, University Housing and the Dean of Students. It also hosts a myriad of vendors along with a spacious multiplex food court. The university runs Inter-Campus Bus transportation, which provides easy access to campus facilities and student communities.

The Office of Student Life located on the Tyler Campus in conjunction with Art, Art History and Architecture schedules diverse extracurricular activities, events and programs tailored to the arts community offering you the opportunity for interaction with faculty, visiting artists and students both on and off campus. Temple University residence halls, which exist on the Main Campus, Ambler Campus, and Tyler Campus, provide an opportunity for students to extend their learning experiences beyond the classroom, library, studio, and laboratory. The Office of University Housing attempts to create a group living environment in which each student is offered an opportunity to develop as an individual in an atmosphere that encourages emotional and intellectual growth.

Beech Hall is located on the Tyler School of Art Campus. This residence hall, with three adjoining wings, accommodates approximately 150 resident students. The lounge offers a large screen television, table tennis, football, air hockey, and a pool table for recreational use by the residents. Amenities include a laundry room, a fitness center, and a computer lab, equipped with graphic design software and a color printer. In addition, each of the three wings has a common studio available for residents. Rooms are assigned as doubles and some triples, and the furnishings include beds, built-in wardrobes, bookshelves, drawing desks, and chairs.
