Blackwood Gallery

The Blackwood Gallery is a centre for the presentation and dissemination of contemporary art in all media. Its purpose is to stimulate the communities of the University of Toronto at Mississauga (students, faculty, staff and alumni) as well as local, regional and national communities and to serve as a resource for the academic, arts and educational communities.
The gallery presents a year round schedule of art exhibitions which feature Canadian and international contemporary art in diverse media, such as painting, sculpture, video, installation, multi-media works.

Permanent Collection

The Blackwood Gallery collects, maintains, preserves and exhibits works of the University of Toronto at Mississauga's Permanent Collection. The primary focus of the Permanent Collection is in the area of prints and multiples, and it includes Canadian and international works, both historical and contemporary. In order to better serve its publics and in appreciation of historical precedent, the secondary focus of the Gallery is a collection representative of other media.

Getting there

Via shuttle from University of Toronto, St. George Campus:

The UTM/St. George shuttle bus offers regular pick-up/drop off service departing from Hart House (7 Hart House Circle), and arriving directly in front of the Kaneff Centre at UTM.

Students with a valid UTM student ID card are eligible to travel free of charge. Non students must purchase a ticket from the Porter's Desk at Hart House and from the Student Centre at UTM. Tickets are $6.25 each way.

The shuttle bus schedule is available by visiting the home page of the University of Toronto at Mississauga.

Via TTC/Mississauga Transit:

Upon arrival at Islington subway station, locate the Mississauga Transit bus lines. UTM is accessible via route 1C which departs approximately every 20 minutes. For exact times and fares, please visit the Mississauga Transit website.

Via GO Train / Bus:

Clarkson GO Train station is located at the bottom of Erin Mills Parkway (turning into Southdown Road).

Erindale station is the closest GO Bus terminal; however, there are no direct routes to the campus. Transfers must be taken down Burnhamthorpe and Mississauga Road.

By Car:

From Toronto, visitors may take the Gardiner Expressway to the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) Westbound. Exit the highway at Mississauga Road and turn north as indicated by the signs. Continue traveling along Mississauga Road North for approximately 9 minutes. Upon crossing Dundas St. the UTM campus will become visible on the right hand side.+ [ Read all ]
