Kunsthalle Lophem

The Kunsthalle Lophem is a center for contemporary art and acknowledged by the Flemish Community in 1999. For more than ten years already Belgianand foreign artists, among whom many have established an international
reputation in the mean
time, consider the Kunsthalle as a dynamic partner for the presentation of their works. The team of this center have a finger on the pulse of contemporary art; it is
obvious, of course, that they are also interested in artists who use the new media to express the energy of our present age.
The thread in the working of the center, however, is more important than the means that are used. It has nothing to do with the traditional
aesthetical considerations
but it deals with a consistent
vision on the shifting of art as object towards art as a means to reflect on the changing notion of time. In ATTACHMENT+, the successful

The contemporary program of Kunsthalle Lophem has been housed in an accommodated former barn from 1846. The long shaped exhibition
space of about 200m2 is dominated by a nice authentic wooden truss. Time and time again it is a challenge for the artists. On the occasion
of Bruges 2002 a foyer has
