Since 1972, the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, a facility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, has offered a dramatic exhibition space for large, thematic group and solo exhibitions that reflect the current or retrospective work of area artists. As a municipal exhibition program, we have an inherent mission of representing the visual arts in Los Angeles as broadly as possible. As the premier exhibition facility of the Cultural Affairs Department -- the largest and only facility solely committed to art exhibitions and education -- we also have the responsibility to present high quality exhibitions that interpret and make the visual arts accessible to Los Angeles and surrounding communities. The exhibition and educational programs are seen as a “forum
