Musée Bolo

The Musee Bolo is a permanent exhibition at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne. It's located at the School of Computer and Communication Sciences and houses about fifty computers. Bolo’s Computer Museum, or "BCM," is a private collection of old computers that date from the 1960s to the 1990s. The BCM collection also includes accompanying hardware documentation, numerous peripherals, and hundreds of books and magazines dating from the same period. The exhibition opened in June 2002 and was completely redesigned in 2003.

The Musee Bolo is organized around different themes, including Swiss computers, gaming consoles, and the first microcomputers. Posters next to each display case explain the exhibits.
The Musée Bolo has been a member of the Association of Swiss Museums since 2004.

Permanent Collection

The museum currently houses over 500 machines, from perforated card machines to the Commadore 64 and the Smakys.

Art and Computers

For some time, many artists were interested in Bolo’s Computer Museum. The retro aspect of the subject and the nostalgia stirred by the old computers were unique. Manuel Pozo, a student at the Institute of Technology, immortalized some of the objects in a photography project with the theme “Men and Machines”.
