Museo De Art Nouveau Y Art Déco Casa Lis

The Museum of Art Nouveau and Art Déco was inaugurated on April 6th, 1995. It soon became one of the most frequented museums in Castile and Leon, with an average of 120,000 visitors every year.

For the last ten years, the Museum and its patron Manuel Ramos Andrade have received numerous awards in gratitude for their commitment towards culture and tourism. Most noteworthy are the following: the Paul Harris Fellow and Blasón de Turismo de Castilla y León, in 1996; the Máster de Popularidad, in 1997; and the City Gold Medal, in 1998.

Permanent Collection

The Museum of Art Nouveau and Art Déco of Salamanca holds 19 collections of decorative art from the late 19th century and early 20th century with some 2,500 well preserved items. The pieces exhibited in the Museum were donated by the Salamanca-born antique dealer Manuel Ramos Andrade. Over the last years, the Museum has added new acquisitions to its funds.


The Museum of Art Nouveau and Art Déco is dedicated to preserving the collections of the Foundation. Nevertheless, other widely acclaimed exhibitions have been organised. To mention a few: “Pintura española del siglo XIX procedente del Museo de Bellas Artes de La Habana, Cuba” (Spanish painting from the 19th century from the Museum of Fine Arts of La Habana), “Los ojos de Lis: el primer año del Museo en fotografías” (The eyes of Lis: the Museum’s first year in photographs), “Anglada Camarasa. Sus ambientes” (Anglada Camarasa. His environment), “Celso Lagar, muestra antológica” (Celso Lagar, anthology), “Miró litógrafo” (Miró, lithographer), “Reflejos, la influencia de la estampa japonesa en las artes decorativas modernista y Art Déco” (Reflections: the influence of Japanese painting on modernist and Art Déco decorative arts), “Alas para la libertad: esmaltes de Lilian Menache” (Wings for freedom: enamels by Lilian Menache), “Durero y su tiempo” (Durero and his time). The Museum has also exhibited its funds in other cities, such as, Madrid, Barcelona, Santiago de Compostela, Valencia, Paris and Lisbon.

Closing days: The Museum will be closed on December 24th, 25th and 31st and January 1st and 6th.


Disabled visitors: The Museum is provided with lifts and toilets specially designed for disabled people. There are no architectural barriers inside the building.

Photos and video recording: Photography and Video Recording of any kind are not permitted inside the building. Visitors must leave their cameras and video recorders in the reception during their visit.

Smokers: Smoking is prohibited in the Museum.

Animals: Animals are not allowed inside the facilities of the Museum, except for guide dogs.

Coffee Shop: The Museum provides a rest area and a vending machine with hot and cold drinks, situated on the ground floor.

Museum Shop: Visitors can purchase high quality and certificated reproductions, and all kinds of souvenirs in the shop.

The Museum can be visited accompanied by a trained tourist guide. Guided tours are available for groups of a maximum of 25 people. Depending on the group, guided tours vary from 60 to 90 minutes. Spanish tours cost 15.00 €; French or English tours cost 18.00 €.
