Stourhead House And Gardens

Stourhead is a stunning 18th century landscape filled with classical temples, grottoes and winding pathways, set around an enchanting lake. Stourhead House, a Palladian Mansion, houses an impressive art collection and furniture by Chippendale the Younger.

Permanent Collection

Art collection includes works by Leighton, Dughet and Bampfylde. Includes one of the finest Regency libraries in Britain and the Pope's Cabinet, an enormous piece of furniture covered in semi-precious stones and only recently restored to show its full glory.

Discover the riches that Sir Richard Colt Hoare both inherited and went on to unearth in our fascinating exhibition.


Garden AND House: Adult £13.40, Child £6.70. Garden OR House: Adult £8.10, Child £4.40. King Alfred's Tower: Adult £3.20, Child £1.70. Group and family rates available. One companion of a visitor with disabilities is admitted free of charge.

Parking is £2 per day, and members park for free.

Large National Trust shop, restaurant serving local food, pub, farm shop and art gallery. Powered mobility vehicle and manual wheelchairs available from lower garden entrance (subject to availability). Free wheelchair accessible shuttle buss available Mar-Oct for travel between car park, house and garden. Baby change and disabled WCs. Induction loops at shop, restaurant and reception. Dogs not allowed except guide dogs.
