The Fireplace Gallery

An entirely new art space, created by recent Fine Arts graduates of Oxford Brookes University.

103 St Clements Street in Oxford was previously a shop trading in fireplace paraphernalia which has now been transformed into an interesting and innovative gallery space over a period of just two weeks.

The Fireplace Gallery is grateful to the freehold owner

The Charity of Thomas Dawson.

Spark is the first independent group show from 9 recently graduated artists exhibiting a variety of contemporary work in this entirely new art space.

The contributing artists have combined their resources and experience in order to embark on this unusual venture. With work ranging from social sculpture and video to installation and text based work, the exhibition aims to bring forward thinking contemporary art to central Oxford.

The show's artists Ciro Barbieri, Penelope Davis, Janette Gaggini, Giorgio Garippa, Grant Greenaway, Zoe Lowe, Oliver Palmer, Saad Qureshi and Charlotte Turton will be continuing on to further projects including the studying of MA courses, other exhibitions and independent practice.
