University Of Dundee Museum Collections

The University of Dundee's fascinating museum collections include fine art, natural sciences and medical history, and are available to the public through regular exhibitions and online.

Permanent Collection

The collections include Fine Art (mainly Scottish 17th century to the present, and the Duncan of Jordanstone College Collection); textiles (Needlework Development Scheme); design chairs; scientific instruments (physics, chemistry, engineering, psychology, physiology etc); the D'Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum; the Herbarium (founded by Patrick Geddes, mostly comprising the Flora of Angus); and the varied collections of the Tayside Medical History Museum.


Although there is no single permanent museum building at the University, we stage regular exhibitions in the Tower Foyer & Lamb Galleries and at the Tayside Medical History Museum. Check our website for the latest details.

Getting there

The University is situated on Perth Road, a five minute walk from the train station. The Tayside Medical History Museum is located in the main foyer of the Medical School at Ninewells Hospital - there are numerous buses there from the city centre.


Our gallery spaces are wheelchair-accessible but some of our storerooms are not. There are toilets and cafes nearby the galleries.
