Khir Andriy

Uzhhorod, Ukraine

My art projects are based on research of Ukrainian archaic, folklore and mythology. First of all, I pay attention to the mythology of Ukrainian Carpathians. Born in the region, I watched the strange rituals and rites that probably left more questions than answers. My implemented projects are mainly based on the study of text symbols. While working on these projects mainly I analyze and explore mythological and ethnographic materials and, to some extent, I am engaged field research. For the period of studying this subject, I took part in many artistic activities and events the most important of which are: personal projects "Superstition" (Kyiv, 2015) "Proverb" (Dnipropetrovsk, 2013) and "Hir beast from the mountains" (Kyiv, 2011). In addition the project "Superstition" was presented in such art events as "Book Arsenal" (Art Arsenal, Kyiv 2014) and Art Vilnius (Vilnius, Lithuania 2015). Participation in the 20 nominees for the Pinchuk Art Center (Kyiv 2013), “Relatives of Warhol”, “Contemporary art of Western Ukraine” (special project of Ya Gallery Art Centre in ART MOSCOW 2012 (Moscow 2012)), the organization of and participation in the independent art festival Black circle (2009-2015), participation in festivals Gogolfest (2012-2014), Kredents (2010- 2014) and others.
