Morley College collaboration with Saatchi Gallery
9 June – 9 July
While Saatchi Gallery inspires creative people who come visit, the results are rarely seen by the Gallery or by the artists who gave this inspiration. This exhibition, developed by Li-Qi Saw and her fashion design students at Morley College Chelsea Centre in London, seeks to bridge that gap. By giving back to the Gallery, they reveal how contemporary art can be reinterpreted in the language of fashion.
After visiting The Long Now exhibition, students from the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma (Year 2) in Fashion, Textiles and Communication selected works which resonated with them and drew on their themes, forms, textures, and concepts to inform their own creative process. The resulting pieces demonstrate a dynamic dialogue between disciplines where modern art, sculpture, and print were reimagined as fashion concepts.
This exhibition not only showcases the students’ technical and conceptual development but also highlights the ongoing life of artistic influence: how ideas are absorbed, reshaped, and brought into new contexts.
