Saatchi Gallery’s Learning Department received a donation of hundreds of photographs documenting Notting Hill Carnival over the years from photographer Stephen Willis, who sadly passed away shortly afterwards on 11 May 2025.

Inspired by this archive, we worked closely with Age UK K&C on a summer project exploring memories of Notting Hill Carnival and the local area. Using the photographs as a springboard, participants created artworks reflecting on their personal experiences and connections to the community. The 2025 project proved so meaningful that we have decided to further develop it in 2026.
