Saatchi Gallery extends the RHS Botanical Art & Photography Show 2021 until October 9th

  • More than 200 RHS award-winning botanical drawings and photographs exhibited for another six days due to popular demand

Following its successful launch on 18 September, Saatchi Gallery is thrilled to announce the extended opening of the RHS Botanical Art & Photography Show 2021, enabling artists and photographers to showcase their work to a wider audience for a further six days from its initial end on 3 October.

The 2021 show, which will now run until 9 October, features over 200 botanical illustrations and photography by 15 artists and 19 photographers, who had competed for an RHS medal. This year’s RHS Medal Winners, judged by an expert panel for their scientific accuracy, aesthetic appeal, and technical skill includes: Pauleen Trim’s ‘Native British Deciduous Trees Featuring Galls’, Kimiko Miyahara’s ‘Endemic Plants of Japan’s Ogasawara Islands, A UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site’, Shelley Lawrence Kirkwood’s ‘I’ll Follow The Sun’ and Francesca Wilkinson’s ‘Full Circle – Studies of Cyclamen coum and Cyclamen hederifolium’.

The public opening of the exhibition coincided with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and has since attracted hundreds of art lovers and botany enthusiasts each day to the unique and vast showcase works, never-before seen in the Gallery. The show compliments the work of the RHS Lindley Collections with Gold medal-winning artworks regularly added to the collections, contributing to a long legacy of botanical art collecting and display by the gardening charity. Accompanying the show is a series of outreach projects for school and community groups including painting, drawing and print workshops intended to inspire a passion for botanical art and research.

Tickets for the RHS Botanical Art & Photography Show 2021 are available to purchase online at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions. Walk-ins are welcome. Members of Saatchi Gallery and the RHS receive free entry.

ABOUT ROYAL HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY (RHS)

The Royal Horticultural Society, the world’s leading gardening charity, was founded in 1804 by Sir Joseph Banks and John Wedgwood. Our vision is to enrich everyone’s life through plants and make the UK a greener and more beautiful place. This aspiration underpins all that we do, from inspirational gardens and shows, through our scientific research, to our education and community programmes such as Campaign for School Gardening and Britain in Bloom. We produce key publications, hold a world-class collection of horticultural books and botanical art, and sell the very best plants and gardening gifts.

The RHS is fundraising £40m to transform our gardens, outreach, and education facilities, which includes redeveloping our flagship RHS Garden Wisley and opening a new garden, RHS Garden Bridgewater, in 2021. We are solely funded by our members, visitors and supporters. For more information visit: www.rhs.org.uk
