26 July – Draped Drawing & Silk-Tying

Don’t miss our penultimate Summer Late. Tickets include:

• A drapery life drawing class and a silk-tying workshop

Draped Drawing with the Saatchi Gallery Learning Team
Using only fabrics and pins, models will form creative silhouettes of their body for participants to draw and sketch. These poses will be held for both short and long periods, with direction and support provided by the Saatchi Gallery Learning team. Open to all levels, materials will be provided for those attending. 

Silk-tying with Strathberry
We are delighted to be joined by Scottish luxury brand Strathberry who will be hosting a silk-tying workshop, showcasing the versatility of small pieces of material, adding personality and depth to any item of clothing or accessory. The ties can be looped and knotted in infinite ways – and there is always a way to make it yours. At Strathberry, silk ties are traditionally added to the brand’s iconic handbags to lend a personal touch.

6 Sept – Strike a Pose: Voguing Life Drawing

Join us for the final Lates event of the season – a Voguing Life Drawing workshop!

Voguing is a dance technique which emerged from the drag scene in Harlem during the 1980’s. LGBT+ circles, mostly populated by New York’s Black and Latino communities, would throw competitions known as “balls”, where participants would perform drag, dance and catwalk for trophy prizes. Named after the famous magazine, it takes direct inspiration from high fashion poses, with added exaggerations and distinctive hand gestures.

In the inspiring setting of our Beyond Fashion exhibition, voguing models and an MC will perform while you sketch.
